The Whelping Area

A warm, inviting puppy whelping room is designed to provide comfort, safety, and cleanliness for both the mother dog and her newborn puppies. The room is quiet and free from drafts, with soft, natural lighting that creates a calm atmosphere.

The room feels peaceful and nurturing, with soft colors, uncluttered surfaces, and emphasis on hygiene. Every detail is arranged to support a healthy development, and the mother can care for her puppies and the litter can thrive during their earliest days.

Temperature and humidity are carefully controlled, with a gentle heat source available for the puppies during their first weeks of life.

Storage shelves hold neatly organized supplies such as clean towels, puppy scale, incubator, suction machine, oxygen, medical kits, disinfectants, and feeding equipment. A comfortable chair allows myself to monitor the litter for extended periods, while a small table provides space for record-keeping and puppy care tasks. I also sleep in the room for the first two weeks of life (sometimes longer, just because).

***Additional whelping panels are added as they age, until eventually they are completely removed and the pups have free range of the room.
